In 1918, PILOT was the first company in Japan to manufacture a fountain pen with a gold nib featuring an iridium alloy point. It was the first fountain pen suited to write the complicated characters used in Japanese writing. With a capability on par with brushes, it helped start the transition from brushes to pens in Japan. The fountain pen was nurtured to become known as the king of writing instruments.
Throughout our rich heritage of over 84 years, we have played a leading role in the industry, developing new technologies, introducing imaginative designs and creating new materials.
