| You may be aware that some other brands of pens and markers use solvents and chemicals like xylene, which may be abused by some users, particularly children. You are safe from this risk when you use Pilot pens and markers, and can rest assured that our inks contain no harmful xylene. For example, our Super Color Markers are xylene-free, soft in odour and quick drying even - our Permawash laundry markers are solvent - free. |

| There are a few golden rules that you should remember. Always put the cap on your pen when it’s not in use, and hold it upright when you cap it to avoid ink in the cap. Always use fresh ink, and by fresh we mean less than a year old. When you clean your Pilot fountain pen (and we recommend cleaning every two months) use room temperature water. Never use hot water, alcohol or synthetic cleaners. If your pen is really filthy (and shame on you!) use a solution of 2-parts cold water to 1-part household ammonia - shake out all excess liquid and dry the nib with a soft cloth. Finally, if you think you won’t be using your pen for a long while, flush it out with cold water, and dry it before storing. |
